Your Healing Space Therapy PLLC is currently a private pay only practice, as health insurance is not accepted at this time.

Below are three (3) important reasons to understand why it may be in the best interest of clients to pay for services directly, rather than use insurance:

  1. Privacy – One of my values is to protect the information you share with me as I understands it to be private. Thus, I have chosen to not accept insurance to ensure your privacy is kept 100% confidential, especially from health insurance companies. There are some exceptions to confidentiality, which will be explained during your initial session and are listed within the treatment consent forms.
  2. Control/Choice – When using insurance, they dictate what you can get approved for, how much they are willing to pay, and how often you can receive these services. As the insurance member, the quality of care is limited to what or whom the insurances can offer. When you choose to pay privately, you have control over which service and how often based on your needs. I am a firm believe in your care being your choice!
  3. Diagnosis –Insurance companies make it mandatory for therapists to provide a mental health diagnosis when using insurance as payment for services. Without a diagnosis, the therapist will not be able to submit a bill for insurance payment reimbursement. However, we found that this practice of diagnosing, from the initial intake, is unfair and unjust to the person seeking out help. We do acknowledge that for many people, having a diagnosis is helpful to be able to provide a label to what they are struggling with. We also believe it is more important to focus our energy and work on helping people around the struggles they face instead of focusing on figuring out how a diagnosis fits to justify why the person needs therapy.

Teletherapy, also known as online counseling, is a form of therapy done via a virtual platform—typically via video. It can be as effective as in person face-to-face therapy as it is also used to meet the therapeutic needs of clients in a private and confidential setting that is most comfortable to them.

The length of time in therapy varies from person to person and depends on the severity of the issue that brought you to seek treatment. It also depends on your level of motivation and participation in the process. The work is ultimately up to you!

Sessions are between 45-55 minutes in length.

Therapy should be a safe space where one is comfortable to be themselves. I understand being vulnerable can be a very scary concept to process and go through. It is important to meet clients where they are, but also help them learn and understand that therapy is a collaborative relationship. Let’s work on your healing together!
